The 2011 CAANJ (Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey) Awards Luncheon was held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Holiday Inn-Somerset, Somerset, New Jersey. Gloucester County College received our sixth consecutive CAANJ Cup which is awarded to the best overall two-year college athletic program in the State of New Jersey.  This marks the 10th time overall that GCC has received this prestigious award in the Junior College level.

At the luncheon, GCC was represented by Director of Ahtletics Ron Case, Assistant Director of Athletics Brian Rowan, Athletics Administrator Leanne Schoening, Acting VP of Student Services Judith Atkinson, Interim College President Fred Keating and student-athlete Katie Trotter. Mr. Case was among the speakers at the luncheon along with the Athletic Directors from Stevens Institute of Technology and Princeton University, who won the NCAA Small College and NCAA Division I CAANJ Cup Awards. Mr. Case thanked the GCC administration and Board of Trustees as well as the GCC Athletic Department Staff, Coaches, and especially the student-athletes who make this award possible.

Another special moment at the luncheon came when Katie Trotter (Williamstown H.S.) a member of our National Championship Softball Team, 1st Team All-American, MVP of the NJCAA Division III National Softball Tournament, and recipient of the NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement was presented with the 2010-2011 CAANJ Scholar Athlete of the Year Award. Trotter spoke to the assembled crowd about her time at GCC and bond that she created with the coaching staff and team as they went about winning the first National Championship for the Softball Team.

Each of the CAANJ Cups earned by GCC over the years is on display in the Gym in the newly renovated Trophy Case.
