Roadrunners Score Dramatic Last Minute Win
GCC's Dan Reed (24) was active throughout the game and then headed in the game-winning goal.

September 20, 2011 West Deptford, NJ

The Gloucester CC Men’s Soccer Team scored a dramatic 3-2 win this afternoon against visiting Atlantic CC. After falling behind 2-0 in the first thirty minutes of play the Roadrunners offense kicked into gear and goalkeeper Rich Dott took over on the defensive end. A key moment in the game came in the 40th minute when freshman Fran Smith fed a smooth cross that sophomore Fran Crane directed firmly into the corner of the goal off his right foot. This goal gave GCC momentum heading into halftime and they dominated the last five minutes of the half.

ACCC created some opportunities early in the second half but the goalkeeping for GCC was very strong. Dott made two diving saves and broke up a breakaway by aggressively coming out of the goal and knocking the ball away from the ACCC forward. The Roadrunners scored the tying goal when Shayne Feriod backheeled a goal into net on a pass from Ryan Novzen in the 80th minute of the game. The winning goal came with less than a minute left and Brandon Brennan sent in a long cross that Dan Reed stretched out for and drilled a head ball into the net. It was a dramatic win and hopefully will open up the floodgates for more wins for the 2-5 Roadrunners. GCC has now won 2 of their last 3 games after a tough start. They play next at Ocean CC on Thursday at 4pm.
