Gloucester County College Women's Basketball team
defeated the "Seahawks" of Cecil College on Tuesday
night to improve their record to 7-4. The
Roadrunners broke open a tight game in the second half
with a 22-7 run to gather a six point lead that they
never surrendered. Lavon Childress led the way
with 17 points followed by Liz Faulkner 14, Ta'Shay
March 14, and Shaneen Datts 11 who were all in double
figures for the Roadrunners. Brianna Aversa and
Lyndsay Valentine controlled the boards for the
Roadrunners that helped spark the surge in the second
half. The sophomore tandem allowed GCC's guards to
step outside and pressure the outside shooters while
they patrolled the paint. Shaneen Datts also did a
superb job defending Cecil star guard Bree Thomas.
The Roadrunners will be back in
action with a key Region 19 contest on Thursday night
against Passaic CCC. The Roadrunners are currently 4-3
in Region 19 play with four region contests left before
the winter recess.
