Gloucester County College offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with a broad range of employer and employee paid benefit options.
Participation in the New Jersey State Pension System is a requirement of employment. GCC offers three pension options based on employee category. Employees participate in Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP), or Alternate Benefit Program (ABP).
Public Employee Retirement System (PERS)
The Public Employees Retirement System is a defined benefit plan available to full time employees. Employees participating in PERS are required to contribute a percentage of their base salary and the retirement benefit is based on a calculation.
Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (DCRP)
The Defined Contribution Retirement Program is a defined contribution plan available for eligible part time employees. Six investment carriers are authorized to provide investment options and service in the DCRP. Employees contribute 5% of their base salary with a 3% employer match. Eligibility in this plan requires a minimum salary of $5,000.
Alternate Benefit Plan (ABP)
The Alternate Benefit Program is a defined contribution plan that offers substantial opportunities for long term tax-deferred investment. Six investment carriers are authorized to provide investment options and service under ABP. Under this plan, employees contribute 5% of their base salary with an 8% employer match.
Group Life Insurance
Life Insurance is underwritten by the Prudential Insurance Company of America, Inc., and is provided as a result of pension membership. There is no cost to the member for this coverage. The State Treasurer is the official policyholder for all the Noncontributory Group Life Insurance, which is issued as Policy Number G-14800. GCC offers its employees several health insurance options through the NJ State Health Benefit Program as a local education employer.
All employees are required to contribute to the cost of their health benefits under Chapter 78, P.L. 2011, click here.
Union Employees:
If you are represented by a union contract, please refer to your contract for information on employee contributions.
Non-represented Employees:
If you are a non-represented employee and were hired before June 28, 2011 you can use the calculator provided by the Division of Pensions and Benefits to calculate your contributions effective 7/1/12 through 12/31/12, Phase 2 Calculator.
For non-represented employees hired after June 27, 2011 you can use the calculator provided by the Division of Pensions and Benefits to calculate your contributions effective 7/1/12 through 12/31/12, Full Contributions Calculator.
For both calculators you will need to check the box in step 3 for “Prescription Drug coverage included with your SEHBP Medical Plan - Plans other than High Deductible Health Plans.
Employees can chosse between both HMO and PPO plans. The college offers plans through AETNA and NJ Direct. The prescritption plan for all employees is through Express Scripts and dental insurance is offered through Delta Dental of New Jersey.

Flexible Spending Accounts
The flexible spending program allows you to deduct pre-tax dollars which can be used for co-pays, deductibles, dental, vision, and dependent day care. The medical limit is $2,500 per year, and the day care limit is $5,000 per year

GCC offers its employees an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This is a free and completely confidential service available to help employees manage issues in their work and personal lives. EAP counselors provide assessment, support, and if needed referrals to additional services. The issues for which EAP provides support vary, but examples include:
