Diagnostic Services Career Pathway

Career pathways are sub-groupings of occupations and career specialties in a career cluster. Groups of occupations are organized under career pathways based upon the common set of specialized knowledge and skills specifically related to the career pathway that students must learn in order to achieve career success.

Diagnostic Services occupations require students to have the knowledge and skills necessary in creating a picture of the health status of the client at a single point in time. Students must learn how to communicate diagnostic information to clients, department and health care professionals, plan and prepare for procedures, and evaluate and report findings to appropriate health care personnel.

Curricula developed for a program leading to a specialized degree or certification in a career pathway will include the general knowledge and skills of the career cluster, and the specialized knowledge and skills for the career pathway.

To identify the knowledge and technical skills that students will learn in a CTE program or program of study (POS), go to the National Center for Educational Statistics website at: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/cipcode/browse.aspx?y=55.

Click onStart Here, Browse all CIP Codes,” then click on “51) Health Professions and Related Programs” to access descriptions of the content of the health care programs.
