ACCOUNTABILITY AND EVALUATION SYSTEMS
Recently, the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium (NASDCTEc) created a new vision for CTE that will position CTE as an educational initiative that is critical to our nation’s economic success.
NASDCTEc embraces the critical importance of making accountability decisions based upon quantitative and qualitative data (e.g., POS components and student outcomes). Well-designed accountability and evaluation systems should: (1) include the “10 Essential Elements of a State Longitudinal Data System” identified by the Data Quality Campaign; (2) provide for administrative record matching of student education and employment data (i.e., Unemployment Insurance (UI) wage records); (3) yield valid and reliable data on key student outcomes (indicators) referenced in the Perkins legislation, and other relevant federal and state legislation; and, (4) provide timely data to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of programs of study.
