New Jersey Health Occupations Students of America [HOSA] is a student-led organization for secondary and post-secondary students pursuing professions in the health care industry. NJ HOSA, a state charter of National HOSA, provides its members with: opportunities to network with industry professionals; a wide range of resources; competitive events to help gauge and reward their mastery of pre-professional skills; and, scholarship opportunities.

NJ HOSA is not a club that a few students can join. Rather, NJ HOSA provides powerful instructional tools that can be used by teachers to integrate employability skills, and the technical skills and job-related competencies required by the health care industry into the Health Science Education [HSE] course curricula, and into classroom activities. Employability skills are the foundational skills, and personal qualities that make students productive workers.

Those who join the HSE-HOSA Partnership recognize the importance of providing students with training far beyond the basic technical skills needed for entry into the health care industry. The rapidly changing health care system needs dedicated workers who, in addition to their technical skills, are people-oriented and capable of playing a leadership or followership role as a member of a health care team.
