Marketing and Recruitment of Students for the New POS
Marketing and recruiting students for the new or revised program of study (POS) are essential for promoting and sustaining CTE programs of study, and efforts must be made with the help of advisory board members to achieve this end.

Secondary school districts will:

  1. Develop marketing and recruitment efforts to promote the new POS, and to ensure that the diversity of students enrolled in the POS reflects the diversity of the general high school population;

  2. Determine how marketing and recruitment efforts will involve parents, students, counselors, partners from business and industry, and other major stakeholders;

  3. Determine the types of presentations or information the secondary school district and its partners will develop and distribute to parents, students, and other major stakeholders to reframe their perceptions about Career and Technical Education;

  4. Determine when students can begin to take college courses;

  5. Determine how the school district will encourage students to enroll in the new or revised POS; and,

  6. Determine how the school district will raise students’ aspirations and commitment to completing the POS.
