DEFINITION
Gloucester County College’s ethical and social imperative is to be inclusive of all members of its increasingly diverse population.GCC understands diversity as the biological and cultural traits with which individuals identify themselves within their communities. These traits include but are not limited to race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, affectional or sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, religion, socioeconomic status, physical challenge, mental challenge, and ethnicity.
MISSION
Gloucester County College acknowledges and recognizes the importance of diversity in our College community and, therefore, embraces diversity by providing a welcoming environment that celebrates the rich culture and experiences of all populations. The aim of Gloucester County College is to maintain and assure the highest level of accessibility in order to attract, serve and retain a diverse population. The mission of the Diversity Committee is to consider issues relative to promoting diversity and provide input on College actions, activities, curriculum, policies and procedures. This committee may form task forces to study problems, pursue special projects, convene meetings and recommend specific actions. The Diversity Committee’s primary purpose is to be an advocate for diversity by maintaining a focus on serving and celebrating the region’s diverse population.
