Gloucester County College English instructor Namorah (SpiritKeeper) Byrd honored veterans with song during a Native American Heritage Celebration on November 11. Korean and Viet Nam Navy veteran Chester Hoffman (left) of Wenonah, GCC ESL student George Haidar of Blackwood and World War II Navy veteran Carl Davis (right) of Deptford attended the standing-room only presentation that paid tribute to military servicemen and focused on community service. Byrd is a member of the Chitimacha/Cherokee tribes and shares her knowledge of America’s first people through stories, songs, and dance.
