Deptford Twp.  – The Gloucester County College Roadrunners closed out the fall 2013 sports season with 14 athletes attaining NJCAA All-American status.

Athletic Director Ron Case said this is the most individual competitors in one season to earn the coveted title. Contributing to this unprecedented success were the men’s and women’s cross country teams as well as women’s tennis and soccer.

Women’s tennis dominated and captured the NJCAA National Championship title while the cross country teams ran all the way to second (women’s) and sixth (men’s) place finishes. The lady Roadrunners snagged a top-10 ranking in soccer, taking seventh overall in the championship tournament. 

Following are GCC’s fall 2013 All-Americans:

  • Aimee Abbott, first team women’s cross country, placed fifth in NJCAA National Championship meet with a time of 19:48; graduate of Paul VI High School.
  • Jessica Barney, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion third doubles flight; graduate of Washington Township High School.
  • Vanessa Brown, second team women’s soccer, started 18 games, scored four goals and seven assists; graduate of Glassboro High School.
  • Kelly Davis, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion fifth singles flight; graduate of Kingsway Regional High School
  • Catherine Dougherty, first team women’s cross country, placed second in NJCAA National Championship meet with a time of 18:31; graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School.
  • Devon Hoglen, first team women’s soccer, started 18 games, scored 16 goals and four assists; graduate of Kingsway Regional High School.
  • Korey Jefferies, first team men’s cross country, placed second overall in NJCAA National Championship meet with a time of 27:56; graduate of Gloucester City Junior-Senior High School.
  • Martha Lynn Johnson, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion sixth singles flight; graduate of West Deptford High School.
  • Terra McHenry, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion first doubles flight; graduate of Pitman High School.
  • Lauren Palmerchuck, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion second doubles flight; graduate of Washington Township High School.
  • Becky Pierpont, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion second doubles flight; graduate of Pitman High School.
  • Vicky Russell, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion first doubles flight; graduate of Woodstown High School.
  • Kelly Stanton, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion fourth singles and third doubles flights; graduate of Williamstown High School.
  • Tori Yeich, first team women’s tennis, named the NJCAA National Champion third singles flight; graduate of Pennsville Memorial High School.
