Deptford Twp. – Individuals coping with the loss of a loved one and yearning for a positive outlet are invited to attend a free, eight-week “Bereavement Workshop” offered by the Center for People in Transition at Gloucester County College.

In a relaxed and calm setting, Dr. Jennie McQuaide, licensed professional counselor, will provide healthful strategies to overcome the negative feelings associated with death. She will demonstrate such stress-reducing exercises as deep-muscle relaxation to promote sleep, personal goal setting and in-class journal writing to channel emotions. All are tailored to unique aspects of mourning including loneliness, frustration, anger, depression and mood swings.

In addition, participants will have the chance to share their stories and listen to the experiences of other recently-bereaved individuals. Information on available community resources will also be discussed.

The bereavement support group will meet Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m., March 12 through April 30. Registration is required. To RSVP or to obtain more information, please call 856-415-2222 or email peopleintransition@gccnj.edu.

Gloucester County College’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55.
