GCC Awarded $150,000 “Literacy 4 Jersey” Grant To Assist Unemployed Individuals

Deptford Twp. – Gloucester County College is offering free technical training and career certification programs to area residents through a $150,000 “Literacy4Jersey” grant awarded by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The goal of the Literacy4Jersey program is to provide basic-skills education for under- or unemployed residents to improve their proficiencies and to obtain gainful employment. Training options include Bank Teller, CPR and Home Health Aide, Customer Service, Food Safety, Human Resource Management, Microsoft Certification and Safety Regulations/Forklift Operations.

All of the programs will be provided through the GCC Division of Continuing Education. Information sessions for each training option will be held during the year. Enrollment and scheduled instruction time for each program will vary. For more information, call 856-468-5000 ext. 5515 or 5501.

GCC’s 250-acre campus is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, right off Exit 56 of Route 55.
