Automotive Technology

Thank you for your recent interest in the Automotive Technology (Ford ASSET) program.  Applicants who are admitted and successfully complete the two-year program will be awarded an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Automotive Technology. The program begins in July of each year. The procedure for gaining entrance to the July 2009 program is as follows:

  1. Complete the Gloucester County College application and submit your official high school transcript (and official college transcripts, if applicable).
  2. Take the GCC Placement Test or meet one of the exemption criteria.
  3. Interview with Mr. Jeff Silvestri, Program Coordinator.
  4. Complete dealership interview and secure sponsorship of a Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer.

Due to the large response of prospective students, it is important that you follow the correct procedure to ensure your acceptance into the program.

  1. If you have filed a GCC application and have not received a notice of application acceptance, please call Maria Kunkle in the Admissions Office at (856) 468-5000, ext 6474.
  2. If you have received notice of your accepted application to GCC, call the Learning Resource Center at (856) 415-2268 or (856) 415-2248 to make an appointment to take the GCC Placement Test at the earliest possible date, or check the exemption criteria to determine whether you are exempt.
  3. If you have not returned your GCC application, do so today.

All students who have completed the application and the GCC Placement Test will be notified by June 10, 2009, by phone or letter, of the date scheduled for their dealership interview. If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to contact either me at GCIT (856) 468-1445, ext. 2210 or Mr. George Rey, Ford ASSET Advisor at GCC (856) 415-2221.
