Gloucester County College Women's Cross Country Team has enjoyed a long tradition of great individual and overall team success. The Lady Roadrunners have finished second in the nation four times in the past ten years. In 2006, the team entered the season ranked #1 in the nation and was able to uphold that ranking, winning the school’s first national championship for women.

This past season, the women were Region 19 champions, District runners-up and National runner-up! Once again, the ladies were able to bring home several All-American honors: Lisa Jones (4th), Heather DiCrescenzo (6th) and Denise Belz (11th) placed well enough to earn All-American status.
Throughout the team's history, the Lady Roadrunners have won nine Eastern Region/District Championships including this past season. The team has enjoyed academic success as well with several team members earning Academic All-American honors.
Head Coach Ryan Hughes has been an excellent developer of cross country and track athletes. He began his coaching at the high school level in Missouri and helped his team there earn a state title in 2001. Since moving back to NJ in 2003, he has led the G.C.C. Roadrunners, building better teams each year. In the last four seasons of cross country and track, the teams have placed in the top 10 in the nation 9 times ! He was named “2006 NJCAA Div. III National Women’s Coach of the Year.” USA Track and Field and the US Olympic Committee have selected Coach Hughes as an “Emerging Elite Coach” and have invited him to clinics around the country. Ryan is currently a USATF Level I certified coach. He ran scholastically at Edgewood (now Winslow Township) and at Rowan University. He continues to run competitively, teaches at Triton High School and is earning his MS degree from Washington University in St. Louis in his spare time.
An ambitious training schedule leads the Roadrunners in their preparation for another outstanding season.
