Deptford, NJ

The Roadrunners scored a key win on Thursday night as they knocked off Region XIX rival Brookdale CC. The win improved the GCC record to 9-10 overall and 7-5 in Region XIX play. They are solidly in the hunt for a berth in the Region XIX Tournament that will begin February 22nd.

For the Roadrunners, sophomore Greg Prince once again came up big by scoring 14 points and adding 10 rebounds. Darnell McCargo and Eric James each also scored in double figures with 17 and 14, respectively.

James energy and athleticism was a big boost for the Roadrunners on the night. Ahead by 50-49 win just over 2:00 minutes to go James collected a long pass from Darnell McCargo and slammed it home. The momentum changed after that play and propelled the team to the 60-52 final.

This win avenged an earlier season 84-67 loss to Brookdale. Brookdale's 6'8 soph Will McDonough scored 24 points in that game but GCC held him to only 11 this game. The combination of Greg Prince and freshman Nasir Johnson did an excellent job of fronting him in the post that led to a lot of frustration for McDonough.

The Roadrunners will be on the road Saturday at Passaic before returning home for a very important three game homestand next week against Region XIX foes Cumberland CC, Camden CC, and Northampton CC.
