Deptford, NJ

The Roadrunners gave up 32 points to the nation's leading scorer but still came away with an impressive 81-56 win over visiting Cumberland CC on Tuesday night. The win was the Roadrunners sixth in their last nine games and the first in an important three game home stand this week.

Cumberland came into the game led by Roger Loatman and he put on quite a scoring show but steady play by the Roadrunners broke open the game in the second half. GCC sophomore Greg Prince (Washington Township HS) had one of the best performances of his GCC career scoing 25 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Prince scored 15 of his 25 in the second half which helped to break open what was only a six point game at halftime.

The Roadrunners will play next on Thursday night against visiting Camden CC and then host Northampton CC on Saturday.

Region XIX Tournament Countdown:

The Roadrunners are now 10-11 overall but are 8-5 in Region XIX play. A .500 record overall or in region play will qualify the Roadrunners for the Region XIX Tournament. If the tournament were to start today, the Roadrunners would be the 5th seed behind Middlesex CC, Ocean CC, Passaic CC and the nation's #1 team Bergen CC. The Roadrunners have yet to play Bergen but will face them on February 4th and then again February 13th at GCC. In total, there are nine teams that still have a chance to qualify for the tournament which begins the week of February 21st.
