Region XIX Singles Champ Steve Suboleski accepts his award from tennis chairperson AJ Trump

For the second time in school history, the GCC men’s tennis team has captured the NJCAA Region XIX Championship. The tournament was held this weekend at Mercer County College and hosted by Mercer County Community College.

On the final day of the tournament, the Roadrunners swept the singles titles to build an insurmountable lead over second place finisher Brookdale CC from Monmouth County.

GCC first singles player Steve Suboleski (Winslow Twp. HS) has led the way all season and this weekend captured the region singles title to go along with a 13-2 record so far this season. Other singles winners were second singles Dave Reich (Glassboro HS), third singles Taylor Devlin (Delsea HS), fourth singles Thuan Lo (Pennsauken HS), fifth singles John Horsfield (Glassboro HS), and sixth singles Nick Sheppard (Clearview HS). In the doubles competition, Dave Reich and Nick Sheppard won the title at 2nd doubles.

Gloucester will now advance to the NJCAA National Tournament to be held in Plano, TX on May 10-15. This will be the fourth consecutive season that the men's team has now advanced to the national tournament under coach Brian Rowan.
