Brian Rowan is currently the Assistant Director of Athletics at GCC as well as the head men’s tennis coach and assistant women’s tennis coach.  Rowan joined the GCC staff full-time in the fall of 2008 taking the position of Assistant Director of Athletics after serving as the head men’s tennis coach since 2005.  Rowan has produced 8 All-Americans, and his teams have finished 4th place nationally 3 times since he began coaching in 2005.

In 2009, Rowan was named Region XIX Coach of the Year for the second time in his coaching career at GCC after the men’s tennis team compiled its best single season record in school history, a 14-4 finish.  The 2009 Roadrunners finished 4th nationally after capturing both Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) and Region XIX championships, and 2 athletes were named NJCAA All-Americans.  In 2008, the Roadrunners finished with an impressive 13-3 record and were named GSAC Champions.  Rowan’s 2007 squad was crowned both GSAC and Region XIX Champions while earning a 4th place finish at the NJCAA National Championships.  Rowan was also named 2007 Region XIX Coach of the Year.

Prior to joining the GCC full-time staff he spent the last four seasons as the men’s tennis coach while teaching history and coaching the boys’ varsity basketball team at Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, NJ.  Rowan also enjoyed stints as the boys’ varsity tennis coach and assistant football coach while at Triton RHS.

Rowan earned his associate’s degree from Gloucester County College in the spring of 1997 where he was a member of both the men’s basketball and men’s tennis teams.  He continued his basketball career at Rutgers University-Camden where he earned a B.A. in History.  In 2005, Rowan earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Rowan is a native of southern New Jersey. He graduated from Gateway Regional High School in 1994 and currently resides in Blackwood, NJ with his wife and two daughters.
