Women's Basketball Improves to 5-2 with Win Over CC Philadelphia

GCC Women's Basketball

November 26, 2013 Deptford, NJ

The Roadrunners outscored CC Philadelphia by one point in each half to secure an important win heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. GCC improved to 5-2 overall and remains 2-1 in NJCAA Region 19 play and will be off now until December 5th when they face Bucks CC.

The win highlighted the teams depth and unselfish play. Three Roadrunners had five assists apiece in the contest. Kay Pellegrino had five assists to go along with five steals, Taylor Foxworth had five assists to go along with 13 rebounds and 10 points, and Vanessa Brown had five assists to go along with the game-winning basket. Brown played a well-rounded game and logged the most minutes of any Roadrunner but saved the best moment for the end by helping create a defensive turnover by CCP and then driving all the way to other end of the floor for the layup and 64-62 lead that was the game's final score. The basket was the first of the night for Brown.

Chardae Ducille continued to lead the Roadrunners in the scoring department racking up a game-high 34 points. Ducille is currently ranked #7 in NJCAA Division III scoring with a average of 25 points per game.
