Women's Basketball Defeats Camden CC

The Roadrunners played team basketball to earn a 77-41 win over visiting Camden CC on Thursday. The team collected 19 assists on their 30 feild goals so they played unselfishly throughout the game. Soph PG Tasia Farmer led the way with 7 pin-point accurate assists while also chipping in 13 points.

The play form guards Farmer and freshman Alex Koutras (18 pts.) and Devan Solari (12 pts.) will be crucial for the team heading into the Region XIX Tournament. The Roadrunners sit squarely on the tournament "bubble" right now needing to have an overal or region record of .500 or better to qualify. GCC is now 10-11 overall and 6-8 in the region.

Notes: Zakia Matthews had a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

GCC ROADRUNNERS PINK ZONE Basketball Game
Date:  Thursday, February 11
Time:  Women’s Game – 5:00 pm; Men’s Game – 7:00 pm
Location: GCC Gymnasium

GCC’s women’s basketball team will be participate in a nationwide effort to raise awareness and funds in the fight against women’s cancers during their game schedule against Middlesex County on February 11.  The Pink Zone game will take place in GCC’s Physical Education Center.  Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer.  Give-a-ways such as t-shirts and drawstring bags will provide additional excitement for the evening.  All proceeds will go Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Foundation.

As a way to raise funds prior to the Pink Zone game, be sure to look for the team as they sell ribbon-shaped soft pretzels on Tuesday, February 9 and Thursday,

February 11 in the College lobby.  Students, faculty, staff and fans are also encouraged to donate $1.00 and sign a banner in honor or memory of a loved one affected by breast cancer.
