Roadrunners Defeat ACCC 81-46
December 15, 2009
Deptford, NJ
The Roadrunners improved to 7-8 overall with their 81-46 win over visiting Atlantic Cape CC (2-7). The Roadrunners have now won 4 of their last 5 games and are back in the race for a bid to the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament. In order to qualify, teams need at least a .500 record overall or in region play.
Against Atlantic Cape, a balanced attack powered the way as four players scored in double figures and two players gathered 10 rebounds or more. However, it was the pinpoint passing of the Roadrunners that was the best to watch as GCC worked the ball to the open player time and again setting each other up for easy baskets. Guards Alex Koutras had 7 assists in the game to go along with her 14 points and Tasia Farmer had 6 assists to go along with her 15 points.
The highlight performance of the night though came from 6’0 freshman center Amber-Marie Riley. Riley had her first double-double performance of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Riley ran the floor hard and the guards found her open under the basket for several layups and she converted on several putbacks from offensive rebounds. Soph forward Cinthia Williams had a great game inside scoring 7 points and pulling down 15 rebounds.
The Roadrunners will be off until Saturday when they will play a 1pm game at Bergen CC in Paramus, NJ.
