Tom McCormack enters his 12th season as head coach of the Gloucester County College women’s basketball program in 2009-2010. McCormack’s overall record in 11 seasons as head coach totals 153-151, with a solid 114-66 Region XIX record.

In 2008-2009 he led the Roadrunners to a 12-14 record and a Region XIX appearance. With only two sophomore players moving on from the 2008-2009 squad, the Roadrunners will return in the upcoming season with the experience and determination to be a Region XIX contender.

In 2001, McCormack was honored as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Russell Athletic District Coach of the Year after his team finished 24-9 overall and placed 2nd in regional play. The 1999-2000 season culminated with a 23-8 finish, the Garden State Athletic Conference title and a Region XIX Championship. The Roadrunners had the school’s best overall finish that year, placing 5th in the nation. Following this stellar season, McCormack was honored as the Region XIX Coach of the Year as well as the New Jersey Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Prior to beginning as a full-time professor at GCC in September of 1971, McCormack served as an Assistant Football Coach at John Harris School located in Harrisburg, PA. After his football coaching stint, he served as the acting Athletic Director there as well. He was also an active AAU basketball coach, working with four different clubs.

McCormack graduated from Shippensburg University in 1967 with his Bachelor’s Degree and then continued his education at there receiving his MBA in 1969. He is an active member of the WBCA serving on 6 committees, and is currently the national chairman for the Russell Athletic/WBCA Junior College Coach of the Year committee.

A native of Philadelphia, McCormack currently resides in Sewell, NJ with his wife, Barbara.
