The Roadrunners prepare for their Florida Trip

The Gloucester County College softball team will take their 3-1 record to Walt Disney World's ESPN/Wide World of Sports Complex for a series of eight games over the next four days. This could become a historic trip for the softball program as head coach Steve DePasquale is 4 wins away from eclipsing the record for most wins by a head coach at Gloucester County College. The previous mark was set by former GCC baseball coach Barry Davis (434 wins).

The Roadrunners will play 3 games on Friday, a doubleheader on Sunday, and three more games on Monday before returning home.

Friday 3/12/2010 Recap....

The Roadrunners first three games were rained out on Friday afternoon in Disney World Florida. The team and coaching staff is hopeful that they may be able to make the games up on Saturday. If not, they will begin play on Sunday with a doubelheader against Lake Sumter CC.

UPDATE: GCC will play St. Joseph's College on Saturday at 3 pm.

Saturday 3/13/2010 Recap...

The Roadrunners dropped the opening game of their spring trip 8-7 to St. Joseph's College, an NCAA Division III program from West Hartford, CT. The Roadrunners led 6-0 but a series of fielding mistakes led to the St. Joseph's comeback win. The team fell to 3-2 with the loss and will look to rebound on Sunday as they will play a doubleheader with Lake Sumter CC, a Division I junior college from Leesburg, Fl.

Sunday 3/14/2010 Recap...

The Roadrunners dropped both games of the doubleheader to Lake Sumter CC, a Division I junior college from Leesburg, Fl. The Lakers came into the game having already played 31 games on the season so that may have had something to do with the lopsided scores. The Roadrunners fell 12-4 in the first game and 17-0 in the second. The team will look to Monday as a chance to finish the trip with some wins.

Monday 3/15/2010 Recap...

The Roadrunners dropped two of their final three games at the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fl. on Monday finishing their tough trip south with a 1-5 record. The team competed hard on the trip and will look to sure up some areas before they open NJCAA Region XIX play on March 24 at Montgomery CC (PA). The team will be looking to add to head coach Steve DePasquale's win total and put him over the win total mark currently held by former GCC baseball coach Bary Davis.
