Step 1: Complete the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Gloucester County Colleges School Code: 006901
Before filing online, you (and your parent if you are dependent) should go to www.pin.ed.gov and apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Having a PIN allows you and your parents to sign your FAFSA electronically, thereby completing the entire process online.
The Federal government strongly encourages students and parents to select the IRS data retrieval option when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web. This will greatly expedite the processing of your financial aid and minimize any chances of being selected for verification related to any income reported on the FAFSA.
Step 2: Review Your Student Aid Report (SAR)
After filing your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U.S. Department of Education summarizing all the information you provided on the online application. Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be included in the SAR.
Expected Family Contribution is a number that is used to determine a student’s
eligibility for federal student aid. This number results from the financial information the student provided on his or her Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Your EFC is subtracted from your Cost of Attendance (COA) to determine your eligibility for need based aid.
Please review your SAR for accuracy and make any necessary corrections online at www.fafsa.gov.
Contact the U.S. Department of Education if you do not receive your SAR or have questions regarding your SAR.
Step 3: Submit any requested documents to the Financial Aid Office
Check your account on the GCC portal to ensure your FAFSA was received by Gloucester County College; you will also notice that some documents are in a (R) required status. The completed documents must be returned to The Office of Financial Aid.
The financial aid office does not make tentative awards. You will not be awarded any federal or state financial aid (including grants and loans) until all of the required documents have been reviewed.
Step 4 : Check the status of your submitted documents
Once your documents are received by the financial aid office, they will be in a status of Pending Review (N) on the requirements page of the portal. All documents are reviewed within 30 days, however, many are processed much sooner. Please check the status of your documents often. If additional information is needed after the documents have been reviewed, you will see those documents listed on the requirement page. When all documents have been updated to a Reviewed status (S), you may view your financial aid award.
Step 5: Review and Monitor Your Financial Aid Status
Once your financial aid award is complete, and you have registered for classes, the college will process your financial aid. Financial aid recipients with grants, loans, and/or scholarships can see their awards posted on their GCC Portal , under financial aid awards.
If all of your documents have been reviewed and you do not see a financial aid award, this is because you are not eligible for grants. You are still, however, may be eligible for student loans and scholarships. Gloucester County College does not automatically award students a loan. If you would like to borrow a loan, you can request one. Information about how student loans work and how to request one can be found on our Loan page. Information on scholarships at Gloucester County College can be found on our Scholarship page.
Monitor your financial aid status from time to time before the start of each semester, as your status is subject to change if your enrollment changes.
Step 6: Bookstore Vouchers and Refund Information
If you are eligible for a refund, you may be able to use a portion of your refund to purchase books and supplies prior to the start of classes.
Book vouchers, which are electronic, will be available only during book voucher periods. The availability of book vouchers will depend on when the student’s aid is completed and posted in our system. Students who are eligible for book vouchers and whose aid is completed by the established deadlines should go directly to the book store with their schedule and student ID.

Click HERE for more information on book vouchers.
You must present your student ID when purchasing books.
After all tuition and fees have been deducted, students may receive a refund. Refunds are processed after classes begin and after your enrollment in all your courses are verified. Click HERE to see dates.
Refund checks are mailed to the student. Under no circumstance can refunds be picked up at the college. Please verify your mailing address is correct on your portal account. All address changes must be made through Student Records in the Student Services Building.
You may check to see if your refund has been processed by viewing your “Term Bill” on your GCC Portal. If you have a refund charge on your semester summary and your term balance is $0, you refund has been processed and is on its way to being printed and mailed.
How to View your Account Summary by Term:
1. Log in to the Portal (www.gccnj.edu)
2. Click the “Academics” tab.
3. Click “Term Bill” link under the “View or Pay my Bill” tab.
