eLearning is an online system that allows instructors to teach entire courses or offer supplemental material for their classes online.
- Online courses
These courses are strictly online. While you will not meet with your professor in a classroom setting, there is usually still lab hours available for face-to-face questions. You will participate in the class through the eLearning interface (using discussions, assignments, testing, etc.).
Online courses are Internet-based courses where the classroom is the course Web site. Students in online courses must have an e-mail address and frequent, easy access to a computer with broadband Internet access. To access the features of an online course, students must use Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher or FireFox 3.0 or higher.
For students taking online courses for the first time, an online orientation is mandatory.
eLearning courses are part of GCC’s regular course offerings and are fully equivalent to courses
taught on campus. Courses may be applied to a GCC degree or certificate, taken as electives, or for general interest or professional development. The faculty for these courses are the same professional experts you meet in our classrooms, and the learning experience is equally rewarding. Students enrolled in eLearning courses have the full range of student and academic services available to them including library resources, academic advising, tutoring, counseling, and the convenience of purchasing textbooks online!

- Hybrid courses
These courses alternate between meeting in a classroom and using the eLearning online interface. Some days you will meet in the classroom, and some days you will access the course online.
- Blended (web-Enhanced) courses
These classes meet in a classroom and are supplemented with material accessed through the eLearning online interface. Some professors will post extra resources, assignments and/or tests online.
