The Student Assistance Center adheres to Federal and State laws and ethical standards; all client information is held in confidence unless you give written permission to release information. However, there are certain exceptions to confidentiality. Federal and State laws require that behavioral health professionals report certain situations. These include a reasonable suspicion of child, elder, or dependent adult abuse, and a danger to self, others, and/or property. In addition, records may be released when mandated by the court. To provide effective service, your behavioral health professional may consult with other Student Assistance Center professional staff. A confidential record is maintained with access restricted to the Student Assistance Center staff at GCC.
