Policy: All faculty, staff and currently enrolled students are required to register their privately owned vehicle with the Campus Security Department. Faculty, staff and students must obtain and display a valid Gloucester County College parking permit window decal on any vehicle which is parked on the property of Gloucester County Educational Campus. Violations of parking and driving regulations may result in citations and fines.

Registration: Parking permit window decals may be obtained in the Gloucester County College Library. A registrant is required to produce a valid motor vehicle registration card for the vehicle to be registered and supply the following information: name, student identification number, vehicle year, make, model, color, license plate number and a contact cell phone number on the registration form to Campus Security.

The parking permit window decal is to be placed on the inside of the vehicle on the driver’s side rear window in the lower left corner so as to not obstruct vision. Parking permit decals are to be displayed while on campus and are non-transferable and are to be returned to security when ownership of vehicle has changed or when a new parking permit decal is issued.

Student, Staff and Visitor Parking: All students and visitors will park their vehicle in designated parking areas; lots “D” and “E.” Parking Lot “A” is restricted to Administration personnel only. Faculty and staff will park their vehicle in lots “B,” “C,” and “F.” No overnight parking is permitted in lots “D” and “E” between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., unless authorized by the Campus Security Office. GCEC reserves the right to close any parking lot without notice. Any area, including restricted areas, may be closed to parking during hours specified by the Executive Director of Safety and Security.

Handicapped Parking: Designated handicapped parking spaces throughout the campus are to be used only by individuals with handicapped parking permits issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission or the Deptford Police Department. Handicap drivers must display the appropriate rear view mirror placard issued by the State of New Jersey or license plate.

Note: State law requires the authorized holder of the placard or license plate to be present when the parking privilege for persons with disabilities is used.

Note: The Deptford Police Department or County Sheriff can ticket persons illegally parked in handicapped parking in private parking areas.

Fire Lanes: To comply with local ordinance and for the safety of our campus community, vehicles may never be left unoccupied in a designated fire lane. This includes while hazard lights are flashing and for short periods of time.

Parking Violations Subject to Fines: The items listed below are considered to be specific violations of the college’s parking regulations and are subject to fines.
  • Parking in restricted lots or roadway other than designated, or failure to move vehicle when directed
  • Parking in handicapped space/fire lane/sidewalk/grass/near buildings or blocking sidewalks.
  • Parking near or blocking entrances, trash containers, construction area, service area, delivery or any other vehicle(s).
  • Unregistered vehicle or expired parking permit.

Reckless Driving: Considering the constant presence of pedestrians, reckless driving on campus is not tolerated. Reckless driving is defined as driving with “willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property." Persons guilty of reckless driving may have their parking privileges withdrawn.

Fines: All fines must be paid prior to registration for the next semester, before graduation or before the release of transcripts. Fines must be paid to the cashier located inside the Student Services building during regular business hours.

Vehicle Security: Gloucester County Educational Campus is not responsible for theft of or theft from a vehicle or for any damage to a vehicle. Lock your car at all times and do not leave items in plain view. Anyone parking a vehicle on campus assumes all risk of accident, and expressly agrees that Gloucester County Educational Campus shall not be held liable, under any circumstances for any injury to persons, loss or damage to property.

Special Notice: Verbal or physical assault of security officers enforcing campus parking and driving regulations will not be tolerated. Individuals engaging in this type of behavior are subject to the college disciplinary process and/or possible criminal prosecution.
