Currently, there are 31 blue light emergency telephones on the Gloucester County College Campus, all of which are located inside and outside of college buildings and parking lots. Each emergency phone has a blue light above it, which enhances visibility at night, and flashes when the 9-1-1 button is activated. The telephones operate on a hard-wire platform allowing direct contact to the Gloucester County 9-1-1 Center and the Campus Safety and Security Department. These emergency phones are inspected and tested daily to insure proper function and operation.
If you observe a potential safety hazard, require assistance, notice suspicious activity, feel unsafe, or need a walking escort, you can reach the Campus Safety and Security Department directly through any blue light phone on campus. Just press the appropriate button and the phones are programmed to automatically dial:

| Tips for calling the Gloucester County 9-1-1 Center |
- Do not leave if the call is not answered immediately. You will hear someone respond from the 9-1-1 center.
- Stay calm.
- State the problem briefly.
- Give the location. If possible provide the full address of where the problem is occurring, include nearby building, room or door numbers.
- Answer the operator's questions and stay on the line until the operator terminates the call. Help can be sent while you talk.
- Be as descriptive as possible. You may be asked to identify people or automobiles involved. The more information you can provide, the better the chance that operators will be able to prioritize your call and relay details to responding units.
- Inform the operator if you want to speak to the officer or responders.
- If you encounter silence on the line, be patient and push the button again. You will only delay your access to the Emergency Communication Center.
- If the situation changes before help arrives, call 9-1-1 again and then give the operator an update. You may be asked to stay on the line until help arrives.
- On some calls for medical assistance, the operator will ask some basic questions and then transfer the call to a County Emergency Medical Dispatcher for instructions on what to do to assist the patient until help arrives.
- If you experience problems with the operator, or feel your call was handled inappropriately, ask to speak to the on duty supervisor.
- If you are unsure of how to report a crime or incident, call Campus Security and the operator will direct you.
