For 1098-T purposes, Gloucester County College reports qualified charges in the calendar year that the academic semester occurs. We do not report based on any payments.
For example, a 2011 1098-T would include the following semesters’ charges for tuition and eligible fees:
- Winter 2011 classes registered after January 1, 2011
- Spring 2011
- Summer I 2011
- Fall 2011
- Winter 2012 classes registered before December 31, 2011
GCC will mail all eligible 1098-T’s by January 31st. 1098-T’s MUST be mailed to the address on file. IMPORTANT!!! If a student’s qualified tuition and related expenses are paid entirely with grants or scholarships, GCC will not report or mail out a 1098-T.
It is important to note that not all fees are qualified to be reported on Form 1098-T. For example, medical expenses, including the student health insurance fee, are exempt from 1098-T reporting. If you have any questions about fees that are exempt from 1098-T reporting, please contact the IRS or a tax professional for more information.
