GCC 2008 Commencement
Gloucester County College's Commencement Ceremony will be held on campus at 6:00pm, May 16th, 2008. Please see the links below for additional information and the 2008 Commencement Calendar below for important dates and times:

2008 Commencement Calendar
     
March 20   To order your cap and gown, stop at the College Store by March 20th.
     
April 10   You may pick up your five announcements and two blue rain tickets at the College Store after April 10th.
     
April 11   All financial obligations must be satisfied before graduation.  If you have not paid your $40 graduation fee, please do so at the Business Office before April 11th.
     
May 14   9:00 am - 6:00 pm: Pick up your cap and gown in the College Store.
   
May 15   9:00 am - 5:00 pm: Pick up your cap and gown in the College Store.
     
    7:00 pm Graduates receiving awards and scholarships should plan to attend the President’s Awards Ceremony in the Physical Education Center. All graduating students are encouraged to attend in support of their fellow graduates.  The ceremony is hosted by the President to honor the entire graduating class, families and friends.
     
May 16   9:00 am - 1:00 pm: Pick up your cap and gown in the College Store.
     
    9:15 am - noon: Rehearsal for Commencement. Meet in the Main Dining Room, College Center for a complimentary breakfast.  Rehearsal is important and necessary to ensure a coordinated procession.
     
    5:00 pm: Please arrive promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16th in the Instructional Center for the assembly of academic procession and robing.  COMMENCEMENT WILL BEGIN PROMPTLY AT 6:00 p.m.
     
    The State of New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Lucille E. Davy will be the keynote speaker at Gloucester County College’s thirty-ninth commencement on Friday, May 16th, 2008.
     
May 19 thru
June 20
  You may pick up your diploma in the Office of Enrollment Services. The office is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Call 856-415-2197 for evening hours. After June 20th, diplomas will be mailed to the student’s home address.  Please contact the Office of Enrollment Services to make any necessary address changes.

How to File for Graduation

To graduate you must complete a Graduation Petition.  Graduation Petitions should be filed (at The Hub in the Student Services Building) at least one month before you register for your final full semester:

May, June and Summer Graduates:  Please file between Sept. 1st and Oct. 30th.

December Graduates:  Please file between January 2nd and March 1st.

If you file late:  

  1. You may not know the correct courses to take for your final semester.
  2. Your name may not appear in the Commencement Program.
  3. Your diploma may be printed late.
  4. You may not be invited to Transfer Day.

After you file a Graduation Petition, your Advisor will evaluate your remaining requirements and mail you a Verification Form detailing your remaining requirements.

Graduation Lists are posted in the Student Development area near the Advisors’ offices. You should check the spelling of your name and the degree listed before the following dates:

  • Summer Graduates:  Before June 30th
  • December Graduates:  Before October 30th
  • May & June Graduates:  Before Spring Break

Handicap Parking:   Handicapped Parking is available in the Faculty/Staff Parking Lot F by the Instructional Center for those with the appropriate handicapped parking decal.  There will be designated areas for discharging passengers needing special assistance.
     
Inclement Weather:  

If there is inclement weather on May 16th, Commencement will be held in the Physical Education Center.  Admission will be by BLUE ticket only, due to limited seating capacity –two tickets per graduate.

Additional remote viewing locations on the GCC campus are available in the following locations:

  • College Center, Upper Mezzanine
  • Instructional Center, room 430
  • Health Sciences, room 500

Tickets are not necessary to enter the remote viewing locations.
