Student Services: Financial Aid: NJSTARS
The scholarship lasts for five semesters of continuous full-time enrollment. Eligible students who do begin their college studies elsewhere, then transfer to a NJ county college, will be STARS eligible as long as they enroll at their local community college by their second semester of college enrollment in order to remain NJ STAR eligible. The scholarship covers tuition and all required fees, including the higher fees incurred by specific majors, such as Automotive Technology and Nursing. The scholarship does not cover insurance or books. The amount of the NJSTARS award may be reduced if the student is eligible for Federal & State need-based grants and merit scholarships, exclusive of loans. However, the total funds awarded cannot exceed the total cost of education (tuition, fees, books, expenses, as reflected in the college's aid budget). The NJSTARS Scholarship program and requirements are contingent upon action by the New Jersey legislature.
