Student Services: Student Advisement: Preparing for Your Advisement Session
Since you are only given a limited amount of time for your appointment with the advisors, you need to have done some "homework" before you come in for the advisement session. Some suggestions on what you can do to prepare for the appointment are listed below.
- Make your appointment early in the semester to avoid the last minute rush
- Read and become familiar with the catalog and the control sheet for your major
- Come prepared with tentative course selections for the upcoming semester
- Write out all questions and concerns so that you do not have to leave unsure of something
- Be prepared to participate in the session. Ask questions! Probe! It is your academic career that is being discussed.
